Webinar: Latest Developments in Research on LED for Cannabis

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The evolution of research on LED light for cannabis cultivation has resulted in better spectra and more efficient cultivation. Nowadays we drive the plant to produce more flower mass and cannabinoid content than ever before. Light plays a crucial in the cultivation of any plant and as expected, high quality light produces high quality plants.

Cannabis LED webinar

Valoya, the knowledge leader of the horticultural lighting industry has amassed a substantial body of research over the past decade. Over 300 plant species / varieties have been tested, including cannabis which has been analyzed in various trials in the past 6 years.

In the upcoming, free webinar Valoya will present its latest findings on the effects of light spectra on the cannabis plant. Slight shifts in wavelength peaks or different ratios of colors in the spectrum can have dramatic effects on secondary metabolite accumulation. It is known that compounds such as THC and CBD which are highly valued on the market, are plant’s responses to abiotic stress i.e. short wavelength irradiation such as UV-A and blue light. At the same time UV wavelengths are powerful and if overused can stunt the growth of the plant and damage its tissue. This, and many other topical issues regarding cannabis illumination will be discussed in the upcoming webinar.

The webinar is free-of-charge and will be held on October 30that 1pm EDT (19.00 CET). It will be presented by Ms. Stiina Kotiranta, Research Director at Valoya.
