Improving plant breeding offers solutions for the increasing demand for food production worldwide

Controlled environments are widely used during the plant breeding processes and their use is further increasing. In such plant breeding environments LED plant grow lights play a vital role.

Appropriate fixture format and light quality can be used to steer and optimize plant growth – in this respect, Valoya’s LED plant lights are highly recommended for such a purpose. With Valoya LED lights, plant growth can be guided and optimally controlled throughout the breeding cycle, starting from tissue culture.

Valoya’s spectrum enables uniform light distribution in plant breeding, creating outstanding growth conditions, even when the light source is placed extremely close to
the plants.

Valoya’s LED plant lights guarantee proper light quality which, in due course, results in high quality seedlings and low mortality rates. Valoya’s plant grow lights thus ensure reaching plant breeding targets faster meaning more production and faster cycles.

Speed Breeding

Since 2012, Valoya has been cooperating with world’s leading seed companies to develop methods of increasing the number of annual generations of crop in a year. With the use of the right spectrum the number of annual cycles could be doubled.

Create a Quick Light Plan

The light planner below works only with the most typical crop science LED installations. If you are not managing to find an optimal solution using this tool, please contact Valoya sales and we will be happy to create a light plan for you, free of charge.

Valoya Benefits

Valoya’s Patented Spectra

Valoya lights use high efficiency proprietary LEDs in fixtures with optimal passive cooling, with minimal heat radiation towards the plants.

In controlled environments this means minimal heat gradients thus a more uniform climate. In greenhouse chambers it means better control of the heat as it is dissipated upwards rather than circulated in the room like when using HPS or MH lamps.

Improving Breeding Processes

Valoya has extensive experience in breeding processes of various crops ranging from cereals, rapeseed, corn, soy and others.

With the right spectrum various breeding process steps can be improved in terms of quality and/or speed which may yield in significant saving in breeding programs.

Our photobiologists can support you to improve your breeding processes (most common methods) for a multitude of plants.

Total Cost
of Ownership

Valoya’s products are designed to have
a long use life, typically rated at 90% of initial output at 35000 hours. This is 40% more than competing Dutch products.

In practice this translates to a use life typically more than 10 years with minimal impact on growth results.

The long use life is a result of excellent thermal properties of the LED fixture and the high quality power units used by Valoya.
