For a decade now, Valoya has been pushing the field of photobiology forward by creating the best horticultural lighting solutions in the world. The focus has always been on solid scientific research based on which we develop LED solutions designed to help growers reach their goals efficiently. After having sold to more than 50 countries, we wanted to bring together experts from some of our most prominent installations, to share their cultivation experiences with you.

The conference will be held within the scope of GreenTech 2019 at RAI Amsterdam, on Wednesday 12th of June 2019.

10:15 - 11:15 Crop Science and Light

High Quality White LED Light for Crop Science Applications

The Crop Science and Light section will be kicked off with Valoya’s biologist, Ms. Stefanie Linzer, discussing high quality white LED light for crop science applications. Not all white LED light is the same and this session is a good venue to learn if and why one should consider switching from fluorescent, HPS, MH or other traditional lighting technologies to LED.

11:30 - 12:30 Hard Science Talk on Cannabis

How Does the Light Spectrum Affect the  Terpene Profile of Cannabis

The Hard Science Talk on Medicinal Cannabis will once more be hosted by Dr. Gianpaolo Grassi, one of Europe’s leading Cannabis sativa researchers. Along with his research partner, Dr. Gianmaria Magagnini of the CREA-CI research institute, he has been studying medicinal cannabis for many years now as well as published numerous academic articles on it. Dr. Magagnini, Dr. Grassi and Valoya’s biologist, Ms. Stiina Kotiranta have published the results of a two year study on the effects of the light spectrum on cannabis plant’s morphology and cannabinoid expression (The Effect of Light Spectrum on the Morphology and Cannabinoid Content of Cannabis sativa L., Magagnini et al. 2018). This time around, the topic of discussion will be terpenes and data will be presented from the latest trials Dr. Grassi and Dr. Magagnini conducted on cannabis.

13:00 - 14:30 Vertical Farming Innovators Panel

The third and final content block is titled Vertical Farming Innovators Panel. The panel will consist of: Mr. Gus van der Feltz, the Chairman of FTS (Farm Tech Society), a body that helps establish and fosters the rapid development of the entire, global vertical farming industry, Mr. Henry Gordon-Smith, the Founder of Agritecture, a consulting company that has helped establish various vertical farms around the world and Mr. Mark Korzilius, CEO & Co-Founder of Farmers Cut, one of Germany’s most notable vertical farms. Mr. Lars Aikala, Valoya’s CEO will moderate the discussion.
